Valentine coaster

January 31, 2019

Here is my second Valentine’s Day project, I chose to make another heart and this time it’s a crochet Valentine coaster.

This cute heart is a design by Garnstudio Drops Design and it’s so quick and easy to make (only 3 rounds!!), you have plenty of time to crochet coasters for a long Valentine dinner table, or make just two for the special celebration with your significant other. Just follow my video below and read helpful notes in written pattern section!

Please share the photo of your coaster on my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/handmadebyraine/

Crochet Valentine coaster video tutorial

Ruth Eliza Bee This is lovely, thank you for sharing this video, it’s very clear and easy to understand! I’m going to make quite a few of these! 😊

Written pattern to crochet Valentine coaster

I use Lion Brand bonbon yarn (weight fine – size 2) and crochet hook size 3.25 mm.

Abbreviations:
ch = chain
dc = double crochet
  • Round 1 – ch 19 and then ch 3 more (counts as first dc); dc 6 in 4th ch from the hook, (ch 2, skip 2 ch, dc in next ch) three times; ch 5 and dc in same ch as last dc, (ch 2, skip 2 ch, dc in next ch) twice; ch 2, skip 2 ch and dc 7 in last ch; (ch 2 and dc in next dc) twice, skip middle part and dc in next dc, ch 2, dc in next dc, ch 2 and slip stitch in 3rd beginning ch.
  • Round 2 – ch 2 and dc in same space, dc 2 in each next dc (= decrease in each stitch); (ch 2 and dc in next dc) 3 times, ch 2 an dc in 3rd ch, ch 5 and dc in same space as last dc; (ch 2 and dc in next dc) 3 times, ch 2 and dc 2 in each next dc; ch 2 and dc in next dc, skip middle part and dc in next dc, ch 2 and slip stitch in 3rd beginning ch.
  • Round 3 – ch 3 and dc in same space, dc 1 in next dc, dc 2 in next dc (= decrease in every other stitch); repeat round 2 with ch2+dc and ch 5 in the corner; when you reach the part of double crochet stitches of last round – dc 1 in next dc and dc 2 in next; end the round with 2 dc in last dc and slip stitch in 3rd beginning ch. Fasten off.
