How to crochet Heart & Leaf Bookmarks

How to crochet Heart & Leaf Bookmarks

April 22, 2021

Crochet bookmarks are quick to work up and they make excellent gifts to anyone who loves books and reading.

And with this Heart & Leaf Bookmarks pattern you will learn tapestry crochet technique which is quite easy to master. Plus it’s so fun to crochet an image using two colors of thread.

The project uses basic crochet stitches and with somewhat challenging tapestry technique I would say the skill level is easy to intermediate.

I recommend using size 3 cotton thread but in case you want to use a different yarn, check out this great source for yarn substitution.

I also have a few book recommendations that are my latest favorites on Amazon. I hope it’s helpful for you to choose the perfect one to go along with the new crochet bookmarks:

I use Aunt Lydia’s crochet thread size 3, colors White (color A) and Scarlet (color B). One ball has 150 yds and one of each is enough. Crochet hook is size 2 mm. My bookmark measures about 2 inches wide and 9 inches long.

My Amazon picks:

The crochet bookmarks definitely need blocking after you finish them. Make it wet, stretch it out on blocking mat and attach it with pins. I also spray some starch to give it extra firm shape. Let it dry completely before removing the pins.
