How to crochet Blooming Doily

May 17, 2023

Here is another flower doily to crochet and I call this one a Blooming Doily for the round bouquet of 8 flowers. It is fairly easy to make, no complicated stitches here and it has 29 rounds. I found this free pattern online, designer is unknown.

The doily definitely needs blocking after you finish it. I usually make the doily wet, stretch it out on blocking mats and attach it with pins. I also spray some starch to give it extra firm shape. Let it dry completely before removing the pins. In the video tutorial I show exactly how to block the Blooming Doily!

If you’d like to attach your doily to a loop, then this is how I did it. I used 16-inch metal loop, about 3 yards of 0.5 mm clear jelly cord (elastic) and sewing needle:

I use crochet thread size 10 (Golo or Aunt Lydia’s) and my colors are red (color A), medium pink (color B) and light pink (color C). Crochet hook is size 1.75 mm. My doily measures about 15.5 inches in diameter.
