Let’s crochet the painting-like Ocean blanket. It will make a beautiful part of your marine style home decoration. Red Heart Unforgettable Regatta (medium size 4 = worsted/aran) yarn is perfect for this project with swirling shades of blue, green and beige. Skill level is easy.
2. CARON CORNER TO CORNER CROCHET MOTIFS BLANKET
This is an easy crochet pattern by Yarnspirations, perfect one to learn the corner-to-corner technique. I decided to make it in baby blanket size, which made it an endearing and practical gift for my friend’s newborn baby boy. The pattern provides a fantastic opportunity for beginners to get familiar with this unique crochet style, while also allowing for some creativity in terms of color and yarn choices.
Chuckles Baby Blanket design was inspired by Lion Brand yarn called Ice Cream Roving Divagation that is wonderfully soft and cozy with beautiful pastel colors to create the stripes. The mix of lilac, light green and white is called Chuckles, and I named my blanket after it. I find it really nice to work with a self-striping yarn like this, just very convenient and only two ends to weave in!
Circles Throw is another free pattern from Yarnspirations. It’s super easy and fun to work on, perfect if you’re hunting for something to stick with over time. I started this project back in June 2022, just doing one motif at a time until I had all 16 done. Just finished my throw and I gotta say, I’m really digging the colors I chose!
Catherine Wheel crochet stitch creates a beautiful pattern for a blanket. And it’s easy enough to learn for any skill level. I love the look of wheels alternating in two contrast colors and the way the wheels fit perfectly with each other. I used Bernat Blanket super bulky yarn for the blanket and I modified the standard Catherine Wheel stitch a little to fit that specific yarn type.
6. CHRISTMAS BLANKET
This pattern is fantastic to give those yarn scraps a second chance at life and combine colors to make this cheerful blanket. I call it Christmas Blanket because of the colors I chose, and also because I decided to donate my blanket to children in need. Best yarn choice would be medium size 4 and crochet hook 5 mm. And the pattern is super simple repeat of the 2nd row:
- Ch 221.
- Row 1 = dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in next ch, *skip next 2 ch, in next ch (dc2+ch+dc2), skip next 2 ch, dc in each next 3 ch, repeat from*, end the row with dc in last 2 ch.
- Row 2 = ch 3 (counts as 1st dc), fpdc (front post double crochet) around each next 2 dc, in next ch-sp (dc2+ch+dc2), *skip next 2 dc, fpdc around each next 3 st, in next ch-sp (dc2+ch+dc2), repeat from* to last 5 st, skip next 2 dc, fpdc around next 2 st, dc in last st.
- Repeat row 2 and make 2 rows with each color.
Hannah of Daisy Farm Crafts designed the Windowpane Gingham Baby Blanket with Caron Simply Soft yarn. The design was inspired by the original Daisy Farm Crafts Gingham Baby Blanket. I used Bernat Velvet yarn for my full size blanket. The blanket uses the tapestry crochet technique by carrying the color we aren’t using along the top of our work and crocheting over it as we go, so that we can easily change colors.
Red Heart Hygge yarn is incredibly soft and pretty-looking to create the cozy blanket. This pattern is also a design by Daisy Farm Crafts and I find their website a wonderful resource for blanket crochet patterns. I am sure to make more blankets with their beautiful patterns.
The Stained Glass Throw is an easy crochet pattern to make the stunning colorful square shaped blanket. It starts out as a square crochet motif using two yarns, and then simply adding rounds to make it your preferred size, you will end up with a much bigger square of the throw. I recommend using multi-color yarn like Lion Brand Landscapes (Boardwalk in tutorial, or Desert Spring) with solid color as contrast (Caron Simply Soft white in tutorial, or black). This is the easiest way to get the stained glass effect, and also very convenient to finish the throw with just four ends to weave in, as we never cut off the yarn at the end of rounds.
