Chuckles Baby Blanket design was inspired by Lion Brand yarn called Ice Cream Roving Divagation that is wonderfully soft and cozy with beautiful pastel colors to create the stripes. The mix of lilac, light green and white is called Chuckles, and I named my blanket after it. I find it really nice to work with a self-striping yarn like this, just very convenient and only two ends to weave in!
And I found the perfect stitch for the Chuckles Baby Blanket, which is the single-crochet-cluster. It creates an amazing texture and is very easy to crochet.
It is easy to adjust the size of the blanket, as long as you start with even-numbered amount of chains and make odd-numbered amount of single crochet stitches on the first row.

WRITTEN PATTERN OF CHUCKLES BABY BLANKET
As mentioned, I use Lion Brand Ice Cream Divagation yarn color Chuckles. Yarn weight is medium 4 and content is 100% acrylic. One ball has 7 oz. (200 g) 437 yds (400 m) in it and I used 3 balls for the blanket, which measures about 36 inches long and 34 inches wide. Crochet hook is size 6 mm.
Abbreviations:
ch = chain
sc = single crochet
st = stitch
yo = yarn over
Special stitch:
sc-cluster = pull up a loop in same st as last, pull up a loop in each next 2 st, yo and pull through all 4 loops on hook
Pattern notes:
Ch in the beginning of rows doesn't count as a stitch.
- Ch 120.
- Row 1 = sc in 2nd ch from and in each next ch (119 sc), turn.
- Row 2 = ch, sc in 1st st, sc-cluster (please see Special stitch), *ch, sc-cluster, repeat from* to end of row, sc in last st, turn.
- Repeat row 2 until you have preferred size of blanket.
- Border = for my 34 x 36 -inch blanket I needed about 35 yards of yarn for 1 round of border.
- Turn the piece sideways and ch, *sc in end space of each row on the 1st side, sc 2 in corner space, sc in each foundation ch loop on 2nd side, sc 2 in corner space, repeat from* on 3rd and 4th sides, sc in same space as 1st sc, sl st in 1st sc, cut off and fasten off yarn.
- Weave in ends.
