Ripple Waves is an easy crochet stitch to create a lacy piece like a table runner for home decor. This pattern calls for two contrast colors and I found that it’s nice to combine multi-color thread with solid color. So we can crochet 2 rows with each color, which makes it easy to change colors, and not having to cut off thread after every other row. In my video tutorial I will show you exactly how I change my colors.
Also, it works out perfectly when using 2 balls of thread (1 solid, 1 colorful – 250 yards each), because the stitches on multi-color rows use up more thread than the solid ones, so you will have just enough solid color thread left over to crochet the border.
The Ripple Waves Table Runner definitely needs blocking after you finish it. I usually make the the piece wet, stretch it out on blocking mats and attach it with pins. I also spray some starch to give it extra firm shape. Let it dry completely before removing the pins.
