Wind Rose crochet doily is designed by Fujiko Takagi. I love the lacy look of this one, focusing on the Wind Rose symbol in the center.
I learned that Wind Rose is a graphical tool to show the speed and direction of the wind and the compass developed from it.
The term “rose” comes from the figure’s compass points resembling the petals of the well-known flower. Originally, this device was used to indicate the directions of the winds and it was then known as a wind rose.

The Wind Rose doily definitely needs blocking after you finish it. I usually make the doily wet, stretch it out on blocking mats and attach it with pins. I also spray some starch to give it extra firm shape.

VIDEO TUTORIAL OF WIND ROSE DOILY
WRITTEN PATTERN OF WIND ROSE DOILY
For the pink doily I used DMC Cebelia Crochet Cotton (1 ball) size 10 and crochet hook size 1.50 mm. For the blue doily I used Liz Metallic Steel Blue thread (1 ball) size 20 and crochet hook size 1.50 mm. Aunt Lydia’s crochet thread size 10 will work too! Pink doily measures about 15″ in diameter after blocking, blue one 13.5″.
