With this elegant Barbie Violinist Dress I have started my new Barbie Musician Outfit collection. So if you’re up for a challenge to crochet with fine thread and hook, I invite you to crochet this Barbie dress with me.
You will learn some interesting crochet stitches with this project, like extended single crochet and lace stitch called “lovely lace”. These are not difficult stitches but because we work with fine thread and hook, I would say the skill level is intermediate.
The Barbie Violinist Dress is made in 3 steps:
- Dress top and waistband
- Dress skirt
- Top edge and back closure

DMC Pearl Cotton size 8 is perfect thread to use for the Barbie Violinist Dress because it’s soft and a little shiny, so the result is a fine dress! The color in tutorial is Light Antique Violet (color A). 1 ball has 10 grams and it’s enough for one dress. You will also need 1 ball of contrast color Black (color B). Crochet hook is 1.75 mm. You’ll also need 2 tiny snaps for back closure.
