Let’s crochet the beautiful 3d doily. This is a doily design like no other, yet simple enough for beginner crocheter!
This design looks like a car wheel to me, sometimes even like a ball, it’s all about perspective! It complements modern and classic home decor alike.
The doily definitely needs blocking after you finish it. I usually make the doily wet, stretch it out on blocking mats and attach it with pins. I also spray some starch to give it extra firm shape.
VIDEO TUTORIAL OF 3D DOILY
Here is my 3d doily video tutorial with step-by-step guidance to help you crochet this unique doily.

Love the pattern❤️Working on it right now! Just one question: is it normal that after row 21 it starts to curl inwards?
If anyone wants to contact the original designer, the pattern was first found here:

Hello, I would like to translate the written pattern for a local crochetgroup. Do i need your permission or the designers? Who is the designer? I sure want to give credit to her. Thanks .
Hi Monique, you are welcome to translate the pattern. Unfortunately I don’t know who the original designer is but the pattern was first found here:

This is the original design on Ravelry. Since her’s was published in 2015, she owns the copyright Via U.S. Copyright Law. Yours is violating her copyrights. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Thank you for letting me know! I was not aware of the original designer. My blog post contains the disclaimer ever since it was published that I don’t intend to take credit for this design and it’s a free pattern online. My purpose is to show my audience how to crochet this doily. Based on that I have not violated designer’s copyrights and I am now able to link my post to her. Thanks again! Raine
Hi Lori, do you have Cindi Williams email address? I can’t find her contact info.
There is a free crochet diagram online for 3d doily and I would like to ask Cindi if she has copyright on that too before we credit her as original designer. Thank you!
I thank you for your excellent tutorial! Mine is Blue and white in the outside. It is very beautiful. ❤️
Thank you! I’m glad to hear your doily came out beautiful!
I love the doily but your page prints it so small I cant read pattern. I mean tiny.
Hi Dana, you could copy the pattern, paste it in word document and then increase the font size. I hope this helps.
Printing out the pattern. Can’t wait to get started!!!
Have fun!
Full disclaimer: I am counting-challenged. I have struggled mightily to get to round 14 (I’m doing a sample doily, using magic marker marks, to teach myself how to see/count stitches). Anyway, Round 14 calls for a 4-repeat in ch 2 space, and I only have room for 3? I have ch 5 / ch 2 / ch 2 / ch 2 / ch 5.
I have redone round 13 twice to be sure. Could this be a misprint or what am I missing??? Thanks.
Hi, the pattern is correct because the last 3dc of the repeat will go in ch5-space, just like the 1st one. Middle three go in ch1-space, so you have 5 3dc.
I hope this helps!
I was reading the words too literally. Would have written the instructions differently, is all. Got it now. One more thing, tho… when I look at your finished doilies (this pattern), I can’t find the beginning of your rounds in the innermost flower. On mine, the chain 2’s (that count as a dc) are easy to spot! is it just a question of tension do you think? thanks for your help!
Could be, I think it’s ok that it shows. Blocking helps too!
The *Repeat* portion of round 14 has the instruction to crochet inside the ch 1 sp. 4X, which is what threw me. You do 3DC crochets inside CH 1 sp. 3X, plus 3dc crochets inside the ch 5 sp. I kept looking for another ch1 space to make the 4. do you see? anyway, you don’t need to post this, just wanted to bring it to your attention. thanks for all you do.
I understand, it’s about wording. Thank you but the written pattern is still correct and that’s why I gave you more detailed explanation. And you can always refer to my video tutorial for extra help with stitch placement. Happy crocheting!
Thanks for making the following of instructions so easy. Just finished crocheting the 3d doily. Haven’t been able to block it yet.
By the way is there something missing at end of row 14? Or was it me missing something there. But once again thanks a lot for sharing the pattern and instructions.😘❣️
PS I don’t know how to upload the photo on this but I have posted it on face book group page knittingandCrochet with# your site.
