WRITTEN PATTERN OF CAFE CURTAIN
I use 2 colors of Golo thread size 10 (ball size 250 yards/40 grams). Crochet hook is size 1.75 mm. The curtain rod is expandable 28-48 inches and 0.5-inch diameter.
My curtain measures about 28 inches wide and 8 inches long.
Abbreviations:
ch = chain
tr = triple crochet
tr3-cl = 3 triple crochet cluster
tr4-cl = 4 triple crochet cluster
sc = single crochet
dtr = double triple crochet
Special stitches:
tr3-cl = (yarn over twice, insert hook in the indicated stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, 4 loops on hook, yarn over, pull through first 2 loops, yarn over, pull through next 2 loops, leave last 2 loops on hook) 3 times, yarn over, pull through all 4 loops on hook.
tr4-cl = (yarn over twice, insert hook in the indicated stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, 4 loops on hook, yarn over, pull through first 2 loops, yarn over, pull through next 2 loops, leave last 2 loops on hook) 4 times, yarn over, pull through all 5 loops on hook.
Pattern notes:
- The pattern is multiple of 20 + 9, so for each additional repeat add 20 chains.
- For the border pattern to work, the piece needs multiple of 4 rows (my curtain has 72 rows).
- With color A ch 89 (4 repeats of pattern).
- Row 1 = tr in 14th ch from hook, *ch 4, skip 4 ch, tr in next ch, repeat from*.
- Row 2 = ch 8, turn, tr in next tr, *ch 4, tr3-cl (inserting hook through 2 upper loops of next tr), tr4-cl in next tr, ch 4, tr3-cl (inserting hook through upper side loop of tr4-cl), tr in next tr, (ch 4, tr in next tr, ch 4, tr in next tr) twice, repeat from*, end the row (after last tr3-cl) with tr, ch 4, tr in 5th ch from st.
- Row 3 = ch 8, turn, tr in next tr, *ch 4, tr4-cl in top of tr4-cl, (ch 4, tr in next tr) 3 times, repeat from*, end the row (after last tr4-cl) with ch 4, tr in next tr, ch 4, tr in 5th ch from st.
- Row 4 = ch 8, turn, *tr in next tr, ch 4, tr in tr4-cl, ch 4, tr in next tr, ch 4, tr3-cl (inserting hook through 2 upper loops of next tr), tr4-cl in next tr, ch 4, tr3-cl (inserting hook through upper side loop of tr4-cl), repeat from*, end the row (after last tr3-cl) with (tr, ch 4) 3 times, tr in 5th ch from st.
- Row 5 = ch 8, turn, *(tr in next tr, ch 4) 3 times, tr4-cl in top of tr4-cl, ch 4, repeat from*, end the row (after last tr4-cl) with ch 4, (tr in next tr, ch 4) 3 times, tr in 5th ch from st.
- Repeat rows 2-5, finish with the repeat of row 3.
- Last row = ch 8, turn, tr in next tr, *ch 4, tr in next tr, repeat from*, cut off, fasten off color A.
- My curtain has total of 72 rows.
BORDER
- Turn the piece sideways, join color B in upper right corner in 5th ch from st to the left.
- Sc, *ch 4, tr3-cl (inserting hook through the loops of sc), skip next st, dtr in next st, ch 4, tr3-cl (inserting hook through the upper loops of dtr), (dtr in same st as previous dtr, ch 4, tr3-cl in dtr) 3 times, skip next st, sc in next st, repeat from*, cut off, fasten off color B.
CURTAIN ROD LOOPS
- Turn the piece to the other side, join color B with dtr in upper right corner in 5th ch from st to the left.
- *ch 4, dtr in next st, repeat from*, cut off, fasten off color B.
- For thicker curtain rod ch 5 or 6 between each dtr.
- Weave in all ends and block the curtain.
