Torbeck Beanie is my third project from the book of “Modern Crochet”. The author and designer of the book is Teresa Carter aka DeBrosse. Check out her website.
I absolutely love this beanie pattern because it looks like it’s knitted and it’s easy to make. What a cool way to crochet a winter hat.
The yarn for Torbeck Beanie suggested by DeBrosse is Lion Brand Wool Ease which I used. The collection has beautiful “heather” colors like Natural Heather, Gray Heather, Blush Heather, Rose Heather. In addition I used the color Black. This is a perfect yarn because it makes a soft and warm winter hat. Even though it contains wool, it’s not scratchy at all.
Then the pattern! I can’t be happier to have found this, I have already made a collection of four Torbeck beanies and will definitely make more. The black one was custom order!
The ribbed pattern is what make this textured hat warm, and the interesting way to construct the top of the beanie – you will have to try it to learn this cool technique.
And so, as I mentioned in my first post about Modern Crochet book, the minimalistic look and feel of modern crochet is very attractive to me. Because it gives me so many enjoyable hours to recreate these practical items and serves a great purpose of inspiring new ideas of my own. The Modern Crochet book is really cool to showcase all items in either black or white to emphasize the contemporary style.
Check out my first project from the Modern Crochet book – the Limbe Linen Scarf. And the second – the Vache Bolster Pillow:
Happy crocheting!
