Crocheting the Soft & Chic Purse is not only a delightful crafting experience but also a stylish and practical project. This purse combines functionality with a touch of elegance, making it the perfect accessory for any occasion. Made with soft, high-quality T-shirt yarn, the purse boasts a smooth, luxurious texture. Crocheters can personalize it with stylish embellishments to reflect their unique style, which is what I did with the heart-shaped buckle.

Additionally, the detailed stitches and construction techniques involved in this Soft & Chic Purse pattern provide an opportunity to hone your crocheting skills and create a beautiful, handmade item that showcases your craftsmanship and creativity. With this pattern you will learn or practice the beautiful stitch called ‘crossed half double crochet stitch’, which adds fabulous volume and texture to the purse.

WRITTEN PATTERN OF SOFT & CHIC PURSE
Materials:
- I used Easy Peasy Yarn by the Woobles. The size of the yarn is medium 4, the contents is 75% cotton and 25% nylon. One ball has 164 yds/150 m and the purse requires about 300 yards.
- The crochet hook is 5 mm.
- You will also need a tapestry needle for stitching.
- And if you would like to add the same heart-shaped buckle, you can get it on Amazon. I purchased the whole belt just for the pretty buckle! 🙂
Finished size:
My bag measures about 12 inches wide and 9 inches from top to bottom. You can make the bag bigger by using thicker yarn and a bigger crochet hook.
Abbreviations:
ch = chain
hdc2tog = half double crochet 2 together
dc = double crochet
hdc = half double crochet
sl st = slip stitch
sc = single crochet
Special stitches:
Crossed half double crochet stitch = hdc2tog = yarn over, insert hook in indicated stitch, pull up a loop (3 loops on hook), yarn over, insert hook in next stitch, pull up a loop (5 loops on hook), yarn over, pull through all 5 loops on hook.
Pattern notes:
The purse is made of 2 identical pieces that are attached together with slip stitches and finished with additional stitches around the handle edges. The buckle closure is optional but it definitely adds style and character to the purse.
NB! Please see the video tutorial for additional help, especially with stitching.
