Mushroom Curtain

October 11, 2025

I’m so excited to share my new Mushroom Curtain filet crochet pattern — a charming mix of cozy cottage vibes and forest magic! This crochet curtain design brings a playful touch of nature into your home, featuring delicate mushroom motifs that look beautiful in sunlight or as a decorative wall hanging.

If you’ve been wanting to try filet crochet, this pattern is a wonderful project to start with. It’s easy to follow, relaxing to make, and creates a stunning piece of handmade home décor that instantly brightens your space. Whether you hang it in your kitchen, craft nook, or as a whimsical accent in your living room, this mushroom crochet design is sure to make you smile every time you see it.

What is filet crochet?

Did you know that filet means “net” or “mesh” in French? It’s the perfect name for this beautiful crochet technique! Using just chains and double crochet stitches, you can create delicate designs by simply following the image chart — and once you get the rhythm, it feels almost like painting with thread. You’ll find the full Mushroom Curtain chart below in the written pattern section.

In filet crochet, your design takes shape through a simple grid made of two types of blocks: open blocks and solid blocks. Open blocks are created with two chains and one double crochet, while solid blocks use three double crochet stitches. The first block on each row starts with an extra double crochet (3 chains) to set things up, and after that, it’s just a relaxing repeat of ch2 + dc (open) or dc3 (solid). Once you get the hang of it, you’ll love how easily the mushroom pattern begins to appear right before your eyes!

Blocking the curtain

The Mushroom Curtain definitely needs blocking after you finish it. I usually make the piece wet, stretch it out on blocking mats and attach it with pins. I also spray some starch to give it extra firm shape. Let it dry completely before removing the pins.

WRITTEN PATTERN OF MUSHROOM CURTAIN

Materials

I use 2 colors of Golo thread size 10 (ball size 250 yards/40 grams). Crochet hook is size 1.75 mm. The curtain rod is expandable 28-48 inches and 0.5-inch (11 mm) diameter.

My curtain measures about 27 inches wide and 7.5 inches long.

Abbreviations:
ch = chain
dc = double crochet
beg = beginning
sp = space
sl st = slip stitch

Pattern notes:
– With asymmetrical pattern like the Mushroom Curtain, you need to read the chart from right to left on each odd-numbered row (1,3,5,etc) and from left to right on each even-numbered row (2,4,6,etc).
– 2 white squares between the 2 black squares on the left side of the chart are not regular open blocks, they are curtain rod loops made of 8 ch and dc.
