Crochet potholder

August 17, 2018

Let’s continue with our kitchen project and learn to crochet colorful round potholder. This will brighten up any kitchen and make a cute housewarming gift.

Imagine all the possible color combinations. You can customize it for any season or holiday, orange-brown-green for Thanksgiving or red-white-green for Christmas.

I am also continuing with my Scandinavian theme, just like promised. First was the waffle stitch kitchen towel kitchen towel and next is the potholder.

The pattern design is by Garnstudio Drops Design which is Oslo based Scandinavian crafts company. I have found tons of beautiful crochet designs and patterns from their online library and I’m so grateful for the inspiration and practical tips because I’ve learned many crochet techniques while experimenting another one of their projects.

Scandinavian design is close to my heart because Scandinavia is close to home, Estonia, and our countries share the similar taste in home design. Take a look at my cornflower shoulder bag cornflower bag. Isn’t the cornflower pattern just like something you have seen on Nordic style sweater or mitten or sock. Our countries have historically been connected for centuries, so no wonder you will find many similarities when it comes to home decor. The same goes for food, clothes and design in general.

Potholder written pattern

I use Lion Brand 24/7 cotton, you will need 1 skein of three different colors. Crochet hook size 3.25 mm. Potholder measures about 8.5 inches in diameter.

Please see the video how to switch colors when crocheting tapestry stitch.
