Mini Christmas stocking

December 6, 2019

The mini Christmas stocking is cute and decorative, and you can put tiny gifts in it.

It’s so easy and quick to make, you have plenty of time to crochet them for the whole family. The pattern is designed by Jane Burns. Have fun!

VIDEO TUTORIAL OF MINI CHRISTMAS STOCKING
WRITTEN PATTERN OF MINI CHRISTMAS STOCKING

I use Lion Brand Vanna’s Glamour yarn because it’s sparkly and cute. You will need two contrast color skeins. Crochet hook is size 3.75 mm. You will also need a stitch marker because the stocking is made in amigurumi style.

In case you want to use a different yarn, check out this great source for yarn substitution.

Abbreviations:
R = round
sc = single crochet
sl st = slip stitch
Pattern notes:
Instert stitch marker into the last sc of the round and then move it into the last sc of the next round as you finish the rounds.
  • R1 – with color A make a magic ring and sc 6 into the ring, insert stitch marker into the last sc just made.
  • R2 – sc 2 in each sc, total of 12 sc.
  • R3 – sc 2 in the first sc and sc 1 in the next sc – repeat all around, total of 18 sc.
  • R4 – sc 2 in the first sc and sc 1 in each next 2 sc, repeat all around, total of 24 sc.
  • R5 – sc 2 in the first sc and sc 1 in each next 3 sc, repeat all around, total of 30 sc.
  • R6 – sc 1 in each sc, total of 30 sc.
  • R7-15 repeat R6, don’t fasten off.
  • Heel – work in rows not rounds, join color B in the next sc where you finished with color A, and sc 1 in each next 16 sc, turn.
  • Ch 1 and sc 1 in each sc, make total of 8 rows with color B.
  • Fold the heel in half, turn it inside out and crochet or stitch the upper edge together, fasten off.
  • R16 – continue with color A and sc 8 into the first side of the heel and also sc 8 into the other side of the heel, sc 14 – one in each color A sc, total of 30 sc.
  • R17 – work in rounds again with stitch marker and sc 1 in each sc, total of 30 sc.
  • R18-28 repeat R17, sl st in beginning sc and fasten off.
  • R29-32 join color B in the back of the stocking (where the hanging loop will be) and sc 1 in each sc, make 4 rounds.
  • Hanging loop – ch 16 (or more to make a longer loop) and sl st in the next sc on last round, turn and sc in each ch, sl st in edge sc, fasten off.

Happy crocheting!
