Meet Heather Hug Throw — the kind of blanket that feels like a deep exhale at the end of a long day. Named after the soft, heathered shade of yarn I fell in love with, this throw is all about comfort: plush, warm, and irresistibly fluffy. Made with jumbo chenille yarn, it works up quickly into a cozy statement piece that’s perfect for draping over your couch, layering on the bed, or wrapping yourself up in while you unwind.

This pattern is designed to be relaxing and beginner-friendly, with only three types of simple crochet stitches — chains, slip stitches and half double crochet stitches — that let the texture and softness of the yarn shine. Whether you’re new to working with jumbo chenille or already obsessed with it, Heather Hug Throw is a satisfying project that delivers instant coziness. To make things extra approachable, the pattern includes both a detailed written version and a step-by-step video tutorial, so you can follow along in the way that feels best for you.

Because chenille yarn has its own quirks, I’ve also included practical tips to set you up for success. You’ll find guidance on how to neatly join new yarn and how to securely weave in ends with this fluffy, velvety fiber—no frustration, no unraveling, just a beautifully finished blanket. If you’re craving a project that feels like comfort from the very first stitch, this one is truly a hug in blanket form. 🧶✨
