Welcome back to my Granny Square Showcase Series 🤍 Today’s square is truly something special. Square #5 is a Celtic Knot Square that features four interlocking rings at the center, creating a beautifully woven design that feels both elegant and eye-catching. It has that intricate, Celtic-inspired look — yet the process is much more approachable than it seems.

This square is a lovely step forward in the series. If you’ve been following along, you’ll notice how it builds on familiar stitches while introducing a new construction style that keeps things interesting and creative.
The magic of this square is all in the center. The four rings are created and joined in a way that gives the illusion of weaving, but I’ll guide you through it step by step in the video tutorial so you can follow along with confidence. Once the center is complete, we crochet the soft, structured border that frames the design and creates a classic square — perfect for joining with others.
Perfect For So Many Projects
This square works beautifully as a statement piece or as part of a larger project. You can use it for:
- Blankets & afghans
- Pillow covers
- Tote bags
- Table runners & placemats
- Wall hangings
- Cardigans & tops
Tips for Success
- Go slow on the rings: The first round may feel new, but once you see how they connect, it clicks quickly
- Keep your tension even: This helps the rings sit neatly together
- Blocking is key: It will open up the stitches and define the shape of your square beautifully
